SAFES
Shut with nobody who knows the combination.
Lost combination, dead battery, a bereavement, a key that has been in a drawer since the last manager. Most safes open without a drill; the ones that do not get quoted before we start, repair included.

What the grade actually buys you
A safe's grade is an insurance rating, not a strength rating. It is the sum your insurer will carry overnight in that box. Valuables are rated at ten times cash because they are harder to spend.
| Grade | Cash | Valuables | Where it belongs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade 0 | £6,000 | £60,000 | Domestic. Bolted through a solid floor or it is a box. |
| Grade 1 | £10,000 | £100,000 | Small retail overnight takings. |
| Grade 2 | £17,500 | £175,000 | The common commercial choice. |
| Grade 3 | £35,000 | £350,000 | Needs a floor that will carry it. |
| Grade 4 | £60,000 | £600,000 | Usually a strongroom question by this point. |
Figures are the common UK ratings and your own policy wording wins. An unanchored safe is rated as though it were not there — we bolt every one we supply, and we will tell you if your floor cannot take it.
Opening, in order of preference
- 1 Manipulation. A mechanical dial gives up its wheel positions to somebody who will sit with it. Slow, and it leaves the safe worth what it was worth.
- 2 Manufacturer override. Many electronic locks have a documented route back in. We will ask you to prove the safe is yours first, and we mean it.
- 3 Scoping. A 4 mm hole in a known place, a borescope, and the relocker left alone.
- 4 Drilling. Quoted separately, always with the repair, and never without telling you what it costs first.
Strongrooms and deposit lockers
We service deposit-locker banks in two Manchester buildings and hold the drilling records for both. If you have inherited a room of lockers with no keys, we can survey it, open what has to be opened, and rekey the rest to a chart you keep.
