ABOUT
A workshop with a bench, not a call centre with a van.
Torwick has been pinning cylinders out of the same unit on Ordsall Lane since 2009. Two engineers, two vans, one bench, and a filing cabinet full of charts for buildings we still look after.

The bench comes first
Most of what arrives here does not need a new lock. It needs new pins, a new spring, or a door that shuts on its keep instead of against it. Replacing a cylinder is the easy sale and it is usually the wrong one.
We publish the prices
Every job we do regularly has a number on the services page. If a job is not on that page we quote it before we start, in writing if you want it in writing.
We ask who you are
Proof of address before a door opens, and proof of ownership before a safe does. It is the least interesting part of the job and the only part that is not negotiable.
Standards, plainly
- BS 3621
- The British Standard most home insurers name for a final exit door. If your policy asks for it, we fit it and the invoice says which lock went where.
- TS 007 three-star
- Anti-snap cylinders. Either a three-star cylinder on its own, or a one-star cylinder behind two-star hardware. We fit the first, because the second depends on a handle nobody checks.
- DBS checked
- Both engineers, renewed every three years. Ask to see it on the doorstep; we would rather you did.
- Restricted blanks
- Keys for a suite we have charted cannot be copied at a kiosk. That is a feature of the blank, not a promise from us.
Registered in England. Company number 00000000. DBS-checked engineers. Insurance-approved locks fitted to BS 3621.
