FAQ
What people ask before they let us in
The questions we hear most on the phone, answered the way we answer them there.
Will you have to drill my lock?
Usually not. Around nine in ten lockouts open by picking or bypassing the lock, with no damage. If a lock has to be drilled we tell you why before we start, and the replacement cylinder is part of the price we quoted.
Is the price on the phone really the final price?
Yes. You tell us the job, the time and your postcode, we give you one figure, and that figure is on the invoice. If the job turns out bigger than described, we stop and quote the difference before doing anything.
How do I know the engineer is genuine?
We text you the engineer's first name and van registration when they set off. Every engineer carries photo ID and is background-checked, and none of our work is subcontracted.
Do you charge a call-out fee on top?
No separate fee. The call-out is built into the fixed price: £79 for a daytime lockout in the city. Evenings add £30 and overnight adds £60, and we say so on the phone.
Can I pay by card at the door?
Card, phone or bank transfer, taken once the job is done and you are happy with it. We never ask for payment before we start.
Will a new lock satisfy my home insurance?
Most policies ask for a five-lever mortice deadlock to BS 3621 on timber doors, or a multipoint lock on uPVC and composite. We fit both, and we put the standard on your receipt so you can show it to the insurer.
Can you get into my car?
No. We work on homes, offices, gates and safes. For vehicles, your breakdown cover or the dealer is the right call, and we will say so rather than take the job.
What happens if a lock you fitted fails?
Every lock we supply and every fitting we do carries a 12-month guarantee. Ring the same number and we come back at no charge.
