What is included
A lock change is the quickest security job we do and the one people put off longest. If you have moved in, lost a set of keys or had a tenant leave, it is the job to do first.
On uPVC and composite doors, a three-star cylinder: it resists snapping, picking and bumping, and it is sized to your door so it does not stand proud of the handle. A cylinder that sticks out by a few millimetres is the one that gets snapped, however good it is.
On timber doors we change the mortice lock and the nightlatch, or rekey them where the cases are sound. We measure first and say before we start if anything needs more than a swap.
If you have three doors and three keys, we can key them all alike on the same visit for £70 per extra cylinder. Most customers say that was the real reason to do it.
“New tenants, three doors, one key. Cylinders swapped in under an hour and the invoice matched the quote to the pound.”
Often, if the existing cylinder is a common profile. Otherwise we key all the doors to one new key on the same visit, which is usually the better answer anyway.
Yes. You do not know how many keys the last owners handed out. It is twenty minutes a door.
Three with every new cylinder, plus a card with the key number so copies can only be cut on proof of ownership. Extra keys are £6 each on the van.
Yes, if someone can let us in and lock up after. Many landlords book a morning slot and collect the new keys from our workshop the same afternoon.
